Tammy Lin, MD, MPH, FACP is an internal medicine specialist with strong interests in well-being, mentorship, and opening the pathway for underrepresented and marginalized groups in medicine. She is the Governor of the ACP Southern California Region III Chapter (sponsor of The DEI Shift podcast), Chair of the ACP DEI Committee, and a graduate of the Women's Wellness Through Equity and Leadership (WEL) Program. She believes in keeping your friends close, but your snacks closer.

Tiffany I. Leung, MD, MPH, FACP, FAMIA is a general internist and informatician, Past Chair of the American College of Physicians (ACP) Council of Early Career Physicians, an ACP Honorary Well-being Champion affiliated with Southern California Region III Chapter, and a member of the ACP Global Engagement Committee (2018-2022). She is a scholar in the second cohort of the Women's Wellness Through Equity and Leadership (WEL) Program. She enjoys working interdisciplinarily, designing and promoting healthy, diverse, inclusive, and highly collaborative environments. When she suggests going for drinks together, what she really means is, “Let’s go get bubble tea!”

Maggie Kozman is an Internal Medicine/Pediatrics hospitalist in Los Angeles, a first generation Egyptian American born on the east coast of the U.S. but raised on the west, and a Christian striving to follow Jesus. She is passionate about global health, medical education including DEI curriculum development, diversity recruitment, religious/spiritual diversity in the healthcare setting, traveling as much as possible, and learning to play the upright bass.

DJ Gaines is an Academic Hospitalist in San Diego, born to an African-American father and a Panamanian mother. He has a passion for serving underserved communities and improving recruitment and retention among underrepresented minorities in residency.

Brittäne Valles MD, FACP is an internal medicine hospitalist and serves as an associate program director of a transitional year residency. She is a former chief resident and strong advocate for the development of leadership skills and good work life integration for both trainees and clinicians. Her favorite quote is by Jeff Wahl, "The difference between good teachers and great teachers is that great teachers have mastered the art of teaching people things they didn't know they needed to learn." Outside of medicine and academia, Dr. Parker is actively involved in philanthropy in her home state and closely partners with a non-profit organization to help provide medical care to rural residents in Nigeria. In her spare time, you can find her serving in her local church, fielding grounders at second base on the softball field, and traveling the country with her family.

Sarah Takimoto is a fourth year medical student applying into internal medicine primary care tracks. Her research interests include improving care of vulnerable patients with substance use disorders. She is passionate about medical education, serving as a co-chair of the Student Medical Education Council and a student representative on the Executive Curricular Governance Committee.

Marianne Parshley

Marianne Parshley MD FACP is a general internist practicing in primary care with a focus on geriatrics. She recently completed an interprofessional graduate certificate in palliative care. Dr. Parshley is a past Governor of the Oregon Chapter of American College of Physicians, serving on the Board of Governors and currently serves as a Regent of the College. She believes that physicians are integral parts of their communities and that our work reaches beyond the doors and walls of our clinics: our professional responsibility includes caring for each other and advocating for equity in health and healthcare especially for those who are underserved. As a member of ACP and Oregon Medical Association, Dr. Parshley loves working side by side with colleagues to advocate for a better world and to encourage, mentor and sponsor others in leadership and advocacy work. Outside medicine she travels with her growing family, mostly by foot or bicycle, and makes yogurt and granola to go with her indispensable morning coffee.

Branden T. Barger

Branden T. Barger (pronouns: he, him, his) is currently a third-year medical student at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine where he serves on the Medical Student Council Executive Board, the Dean’s Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and is a part of UCR’s Healthcare Leadership Designated Emphasis Program. Branden is dedicated to better understanding health resiliencies and disparities impacting LGBTQ+ and other marginalized communities. Previously, Branden led digital marketing for the UCSF Office of Diversity & Outreach, and he has a background as a clinical researcher, assistant clinic manager, HIV/STD counselor, and sexual education outreach worker throughout the Bay Area.

Branden earned his Master of Advanced Studies in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the UCSF School of Medicine in 2018 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley.

Ricardo Correa MD., EdD., FACP., FACE., FAPCR., FACMQ is the Program Director for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship and the Director for Diversity of Graduate Medical Education at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, Staff Clinician and Researcher at Phoenix VAMC and Faculty at Mayo School of Medicine, Mayo Clinic-Arizona and Creighton SOM-Phoenix campus.

He is board-certified in Medical Quality. He is the editor and co-editor of the book title “Case report: basics and publication” and “Endocrinology of Aging.” He is a member of multiple editorial boards of reputable medical journals nationally and internationally. His research is focused on the study of long-term consequences of hormonal replacement therapy on the transgender population, subclinical Cushing and adrenal incidentaloma, and using peer support system to decrease the burden of diabetes complications in underserved Latinx population in different regions of the country. Besides this, he is collaborating with other GME community on how to improve recruitment into GME.

​He is very involved in increasing underrepresented minorities in medicine. He has been part of a national coalition and non-for-profit organizations to create a health equity curriculum for trainees. He serves as the medical director for an underserved clinic in Phoenix (AZ PACH). He has been a leader in disseminating adequate information about the COVID19 pandemic among the Latinx population. Dr. Correa has been involved in multiple academic, scientific, and educational activities. Dr. Correa has published more than 55 papers in peer review journals, has several NIH and VA grants, and is part of multiple scientific journal editorial committees, etc. He is also a consultant for several Latin-American science centers, including Bolivia and Panama national science department. He is a national speaker for adrenal and pituitary topics and Diversity, inclusion, and healthcare disparities in the Latinx and transgender population

Nilgoun Farhadi is a first year medical student at WesternU COMP. Nilgoun has a background in social genetic research exploring stress coping strategies.
